NEPP Presents - Lowell General

New England Pet Partners, Inc. is raising awareness by bringing people & pets together to enhance well-being and education with pet-assisted therapy.

New England Pet Partners, Inc. offers team training skills, resources and programs to those choosing to use the registration process and guidelines of the Delta Society's Pet Partners program, R.E.A.D. and NEPP.

As Dr. Temple Grandin shares in her book, Animals Make Us Human.

Working with pets to inspire people to help themselves through self awareness and learning new life skills — sometimes through difficult transitions -- teaches us compassion and keeps us grounded.  Embracing a careful sense of humor and humility, that pets often give us, promotes an empowering resiliency that we can let go, learn and grow, no matter what.

We encourage people to take small, meaningful steps toward change.  Listening, observing, laughing and simply breathing can enhance one’s quality of life and health.  We can learn from our dogs who live, play, work and love in the present moment.

ANIMAL-ASSISTED (or PET-ASSISTED) ACTIVITIES (volunteer services)

AAA provides opportunities for motivational, educational and/or recreational benefits to enhance a person's well-being.

AAA is delivered in a variety of environments by registered, trained teams.  This professional and/or volunteer team has met criteria as defined by the Delta Society's Standards and Practice, and/or R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Assistance Dogs), regarding health, grooming, behavior and social skills.  The team delivers interactions that can enhance existing programs in schools, libraries, private practice, hospitals, nursing/assisted living, rehab, residential and other treatment locations (when appropriate).

  • Registered Pet Partner Team Visitations are volunteer based and free-of-charge.  Note:  NEPP does not pay for group and/or individual insurance for independent teams.  Please be informed and responsible about your individual agreements with facilities and/or clients.  Click Find a Team from the sidebar for teams who choose to list with New England Pet Partners.

ANIMAL-ASSISTED (or PET-ASSISTED) THERAPY

AAT is a directed intervention that utilizes pets such as dogs, cats, horses (other species) to meet specific therapeutic goals in collaboration with attending primary care staff.  AAT is delivered by a specialist, who in the scope of his/her professional practice includes pets that must meet specific criteria to participate in the treatment planning.  This team demonstrates expertise and skill with regard to human-pet interactions and clinical application/intervention.  This individual complies with the legal and ethical requirements of his / her profession.

AAT is designed to promote improvement in the physical, psychosocial, emotional and/or cognitive function of an individual or group.

AAT benefits a a wide spectrum of populations to enhance recovery, quality of life and help teach life management skills.

  • Animal-Assisted (or Pet-Assisted) Therapy:  Pet-Assisted Therapy Programs (and training) to support the needs of health care professionals (and their clients/patients), organizations, schools, libraries and private practices.  Through a structured yet flexible plan, we can assist in developing a program and provide training to integrate Pet-Assisted Activities and/or Therapy, as an adjunct to existing treatment modalities. The team works to create an integrated treatment program designed to promote awareness, education and understanding.  This enhances recovery, self-esteem and learning, for children, groups, families and older adults with transitional, emotional and physical challenges.
