BEHAVIOR / TRAINING

Genetics Loads the Gun, Environment Pulls the Trigger

We can make Informed Choices about Health & Well-Being~

New England Pet Partners, Inc. is in the heart-centered non-profit organizations bringing people and pets together to enhance well-being and education with pet-assisted therapy.  Our dedicated volunteer teams and professionals who support our vision, give with spirit and tireless determination.  Some are well-known, others simply do what they enjoy, in their own unique way and from a quiet space.  All want to raise awareness, with integrity, about safety and care for children and dogs.

Everyone needs mentors and teachers to write a book, be on TV or successful, learn or get the privilege of sharing it with others.  These curious pioneers carve pathways.  Historically, paradoxically and through paradigm (evolving) we learn from all species.  When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.  The teacher can be a human, dolphin, dog or horse.  They will open a window of opportunity.  If we are present and read, we can accept the gift.

Pet-Assisted & R.E.A.D. teams are fortunate in that we may walk into a hospital, facility, school or room, thinking we are the offerer.  Usually, we leave as sharer and receiver.

Researchers, teachers, behaviorists, those dedicated to self-exploration and making a difference, learn from their mistakes.  They admit this as human beings, making changes as they evolve.  As you explore, if it speaks to you, absorb it with gusto.  If it does not, let it go.  Form your own opinion and creative style, write your own book, or produce a dvd.  Flow with the experience.  Knowledge, even as a mistake, is empowering.

There is no reason to re-invent the wheel.  The internet is a powerful tool and so is the LIBRARY.  The following recommendations are a place to begin your journey.  If you haven't already, journey to www.dogtalk.com, click on CANINE COACH.  There are FREE excerpts from "Train Your Dog, Change Your Life", that is growing into it's paws.

WELL-BEING

Begins with ourselves ... we can't change anyone else's behavior including our dog's until we make a paradigm shift, changing our own behavior.  As a yoga teacher and counselor, I recommend anything that will ease us into the present moment.  Dogs live in the present, so we can learn from them.  Patterns are difficult to change.  That's why we make mistakes.  We learn from the mistakes, then each time the pattern arises, it gets easier to recognize, pause, breathe and change.
